FederFARMACO

INTRODUCTION

FederFARMACO is made up of more than 20 pharmaceutical distribution cooperatives that serve 11,000 Pharmacies distributed throughout the country, i.e. 2/3 of pharmacies, representing 35% of the total turnover of the Intermediate Distribution of pharmaceuticals.

ANALYSIS

Objective

In order to enable the location processes, aimed at developing the assortment proposal of the network and supporting the collaboration processes with the drug and para-pharmacy industry, a Datawarehouse platform was activated focused on the return sales data of pharmacies participating in the project. The technology platform chosen is the Oracle Enterprise 12C database on ODA (Oracle Database Appliance) machine, completely managed through the application of Commercial Reactivity of Dialog Sistemi's E3 Suite, which - in addition to providing application and reporting tools - offers system support and complete infrastructure outsourcing management. In the Datawarehouse are managed:

  • daily data collection of sales data from pharmacies (approximately 2,000 member shops) the collection of purchase data and the calculation of the cost of sales, in order to achieve profitability
  • the acquisition of data on products and pharmacy, which propose a categorisation vision particularly suitable for the support of commercial analysis (with a tree of categories entirely managed by the FederFARMACO team)
  • the database, for 3 years of historical, which contains about 2 billion lines of receipts
Users are divided into two categories:
  • Local users: use the data through interactive navigation tools of Suite E3 and can enter into the detail of each pharmacy, to help the process of improvement of the proposal
  • pharmacies: receive monthly commercial reporting, with the performance of turnover and margin, compared with the geographical area benchmark; this allows to quickly identify the category gaps and product opportunities.

Solution

In order to achieve these objectives, the solution of "Commercial Profitability" of Suite E3 was adopted, which allowed:

  • the consolidated experience of Dialog Sistemi in the Distribution sector, with attention to technological and performance issues for large databases
  • the staff of technological support, for infrastructure management
  • the simplicity of data navigation and reporting of the E3 platform
  • the availability of ready-to-use applications
  • the retail project team that has made it possible to achieve all of this in 4 months

IMPROVEMENT

Result

Through the Suite E3, ePrice - which has recently adopted SAP as part of the listing process - has centralized all data on orders and movements of purchases, stocks and sales per transaction on a single control system with a 4-year view. The aim is to monitor the trend of turnover, category margins and seniority of the stock, with automatic sending at 06.00 a. m. every morning (including Saturday and Sunday) of a complete set of reports to key figures in the commercial area, controllers, analysts and top management. Visions have been made at different levels, more detailed and segmented by area of competence for operational functions and more concise for management personnel, with the logic of the "Commercial Dashboard", which allows one to have in a single folder book the main information needed for a specific field of work. In addition, with the web portal E3 BPM, data navigation is available for specific analysis and in-depth analysis, typically carried out by marketing analysts and process controllers..
